State of the art manufacturing hub in late 2025
In late 2025, Dovetail will operate from a purpose-built, state of the art advanced manufacturing hub being built in Salisbury, specialising in timber manufacturing and contract cutting for the construction and home furniture industries. The new site will foster innovation, promoting advanced, lean manufacturing practices and further integrating social responsibility into its operations. Our history: Transition to a social enterprise
Previously known as Bedford Manufacturing, Dovetail has decades of experience in delivering high-volume, high-quality timber products and furniture.
In October 2023, Bedford established three social enterprises, including Dovetail, to provide more employment opportunities and choice for people with disability. Each of these businesses operate as purpose-driven social enterprise.
Bedford-backed social enterprises offer world-class commercial products and services, while accelerating social impact through a social impact investment strategy. We offer open employment to people experiencing barriers to employment, including those with disability or social disadvantage. Dovetail offers more career pathways and an opportunity to earn a full award wage.
Not only do Bedford-backed social enterprises offer more choice to people with disability, they also provide part of the solution when it comes to reducing pressures on the NDIS, by reducing the number of participants. Transitioning participants into open employment supports them to become truly economically independent.

Dovetail is one of the largest manufacturers of flatpack furniture in Australia. We create an extensive range of ISO-accredited, Australian Made flatpack and ready-to-assemble (RTA) furniture for other manufacturers and suppliers around Australia.
